The Things We Carry

Mother’s Day at Sip and Ship

Not everything we receive from our mothers comes wrapped.
Sometimes it’s a feeling.
A rhythm.
A scent, a sound, a way a home once felt.

For me, it was music—George Winston, Andreas Vollenweider, later Enya and Yanni—
playing softly in the background, shaping something I didn’t yet have words for.

Looking back, it gave me a way to shift the feeling of a space.
To soften. To breathe. To step out of my own head.

This Mother’s Day, we’re thinking about the quieter things we carry.
A memory.
A scent.
A song.
A feeling that stayed.

If that person—a mother, a mother figure, mentor, or even the part of you that cares for others—were sitting beside you right now…
what would you want to say—if anything at all?

And if there are no words today, that belongs here too.

At Sip and Ship, we believe the most meaningful gifts aren’t always the ones you can hold.
They’re the ones that shape you, stay with you, and quietly become part of who you are.

This season, we invite you to honor that in whatever way feels true—
a note, a small ritual, a moment of reflection, or a simple gesture of care
for someone you love… or for yourself.

Here’s to all that it takes to nurture, to show up, to carry and to give—
in all the forms it comes.

Wrapped dog treats with a “dog mom” tag on a shelf in a framed-photo room
